Update on my work
Lest anyone think that all my time is taken up with climbing mountains and disturbing the peace, I should write a bit more about the reason that I’m here and the thing that takes up most of my time: The International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.
But as a lowly intern, I’m not authorized to say much of anything, and certainly not to make any kind of comment on the proceedings.
I think it’s safe, though, to just describe some of what I do: I’ve been helping my boss with witness interviews at the UN Detention Facility; I’ve been writing summaries of witness’s testimonies; I’ve been doing some legal research; and I’ve just started a project to help maintain the enormous database where we keep track of all the facts and issues in the case.
Mark, I just joined in on your trip, and will check in every few days. I do like the pics of the areas you are visiting. Went to church today, saw your Dad. He does such a great job! We are happy to be in his church.
You have such great summer jobs! Take care

Mark,
Pictures, too! The wonders of new technologies are amazing. Hopefully you can get photos of the God’s Love sponsored kids sometime this Summer. Your trip up the mountain sounded great. Yes, I’m sure you miss Jerri. Such a sweetheart!
Sunday at church I met a woman who will be a professor at the SeKUCO this Fall. She will look you up in Arusha. Also did you recall that my Bishop, Clarie Burkat will also be in Arusha in August. She wants to meet you too.
Love you, Son

Mark, It is so interesting to read about your life on the other side of the planet! Jerri and I are having lots of lunch dates with each other on campus!

Dear Mark,
I am so proud of you and what you are doing.
Hope your birthday is special even though you are far from home. I would make you a special cake if I were there. Lets see, I am making a Superman cake in a few weeks, would that do or would you prefer something to do with Harry Potter? Anyway, I love you and will continue to pray for you and your work there (as well as for Jerri keeping the home fires burning). Carol
