Blind justice in Chicagoland
Five suburban teens from Cary, IL, broke into a home and stole guns to sell for drugs in Chicago; local police called it “foolish.”
From the Sun-Times:
“The five boys, who ranged in age from 12 to 15, have been charged as juveniles with residential burglary, police said. Three of the teens also face additional charges of theft of firearms and ammunition.
“It’s very foolish, what they did,” Cary police Sgt. Ed Synek said. “They’re far too young to be involved in something this serious.”
All five boys charged were released to their parents pending a court date.
The youths allegedly broke into the Cary home on Dec. 14, then loaded the guns into a guitar case and stuffed the ammunition into plastic bags, Synek said.
The guns and ammunition were going to be traded in Chicago for $1,500 and drugs, Synek said.
When the little angels got to the big city, their plan fell through and they dumped the guns in the trash, where police later found them.
Still, I’m quite sure that if five kids from the West Side of Chicago waltzed into Cary with guns to sell for drugs—or drugs for guns, or just drugs, or just to shop at the mall—they might not have been treated so gingerly. Something tells me there might have been just a slightly different reaction.
