50 lousy helicopters
There are still only 50 helicopters involved in earthquake rescues?
The whole, entire world can only muster 50 stinkin’ helicopters—after six days?
And it isn’t as though they aren’t needed. The Times writes that, “Pakistani officials said Thursday that 6,000 of the estimated 52,000 injured people had been evacuated.” And many of those who have been left to wait are now having broken bones heal without having been set, losing limbs to gangrene, and missing the chance for surgeries that could have repaired spinal chords.
